Racers' Page
There is a saying the door slammers use when dragracing: There is no replacement for displacement. They are wrong; nothing, I mean NOTHING competes with cubic dollars.
I have done the bit where you ride so hard your tires don't wear, they evaporate, your knee pucks turn into greasy smudges, and your brakes cry for mercy as you weave through a few punters in the turns only to watch them rocket past you on the next straight so fast that you can only just make out their engine sponsor sticker. That is the point where you realize a great truth: You just got your butt kicked by a wallet.
The bikesetup.com dictionary reveals
Sponsorship: 1) getting some other sucker to pay for your expensive hobby 2) the necessary evil to rule the racetrack due to your shiny new parts.
This page is meant to make things just a little bit easier to stuff your gearbag with money, and therefore, trophies. When I was hussling potential sponsors, they would always ask where their name will really be seen (many are smart enough to know that nobody can read a 4x8 sticker on a fairing that is moving at 150 mph) I found that car stereo and hot rod shops were my best bet because they could display the racebike in their shop or at car shows and it is the right demographic. Bike shops are sometimes good, but the most that you will usually get out of them is a discount on stuff and labour. Another tip for potential race team owners is to set up your race team as a licensed business. You can make enough money to pay the racing bills and turn a small profit if you are successful, nobody says that it must make enough to pay a full wage. The tax writeoffs can really make a difference to the amount of sponsorship you need.It all comes down to selling the show, and for that you need exposure.
THIS PAGE IS ALL ABOUT EXPOSURE!
Here is my offer: for 20 bucks a year I will put a picture that you provide (subject to my approval) on this page with a 100 word bio that you provide (subject to editing) If you sponsor me, I'll showcase you (not a bad phrase to remember)
Plus, If you have any knowledge you want to share, I'll add it here in addition to your 100 word bio, giving you more exposure for free.
